Many applicants do not routinely amend their cases post-grant in South Africa. Their applications meet the formal requirements and are granted. Indeed, the vast majority of foreign cases which come into South Africa, never need any service beyond filing and processing to grant, except for renewal payments. We offer an annuity/renewal payment service, but for the convenience of those who use annuity/renewal agencies (like MDC, CPA or CPI) to maintain their patents, design and trademark registrations, we remain the registered “address for service” after grant.
